What We Do
Classroom Aides
Our TK and Kindergarten classes can have up to 26 students per classroom. Aides ensure that teachers can maintain focus on the needs of each child and provide additional targeted small group reading, writing, and phonics instruction. (Our TK teachers then provide these services for our grade 1 students in the afternoons after TK early release each day.)
Impact Teachers
Grades 2-5 receive additional support from the work of credentialed Impact Teachers, one per grade level. These passionate teachers engage with students in small group settings providing remediation as well as acceleration/challenge instruction in math, reading, and writing depending upon grade level determined areas of need. Impact teachers also provide structured after school homework support for selected students.
Phys. Ed. Program
PE Instructional aides serve as coaches, providing our students benefit from well-planned and varied physical activities and games year round. We currently employ two enthusiastic and energetic part-time coaches, one serving primary classes TK-2, and the other working with upper grades 3-5.
Enrichment Progams
Trailblazer TV (TBTV) is an innovative program that encourages students to interact with technology as they develop organizational, writing, filming, and public speaking skills.
Teacher Release
Teacher release time is provided twice a year to meet one-on-one with students for the administration of individualized assessments as well as goal setting.
Trailblazer Center
Our Student Support Assistant, under the guidance of our Elementary School Counselor, hosts the Trailblazer Center located in H6 during recess time. The center is open for students to participate in games and crafts designed to foster social skills and friendships while providing an alternative setting from the typical playground activities.
And More…
SRF frequently seeks input from school staff and parents to determine student and school needs. We have been able to provide supplies and funds to make sure our school has the advantage of improved technology by purchasing iPads and Chromebooks as well as retrofitting our STEM Computer Lab. We recently began funding additional hours for our Student Services Assistant to provide social-emotional support for students through the newly opened Trailblazer Center. Our Foundation remains flexible to support initiatives that promote learning and address pressing needs as they arise.
